Grandmaster Chiu Chi Ling

Grand Master Chiu Chi Ling is Grand Master Chiu Chi Ling one of the most expert of Hung Ga Kung Fu. He was born on January 20th, in 1941 in Canton. His father Chiu Kao (1895-1995) during all his life is considered to be one of the maximum worldwide exponent of Hung Gar and his mother, Siu Ying, is very expert too.

Master Chiu Chi Ling begins to practice Kung Fu, under the guidance of his father, when he was 6 years old. The training follows the traditional method. The character and the physique of young Chi Ling have been sorely proved.

He trained Hung Ga around Hong Kong hills: initially his training was mainly dedicated to Sei Ping Ma position (of horseman), at times also overloaded with some weight. The following step was the forms' study and fighting techniques. When he finished, in the evening, his father completed Chi Ling's "training" by taking him to drink some China tea and narrated him about ancient Kung Fu masters. Training gave good results and Chiu Chi Ling became one of the best athletes in Hong Kong.

In the same period, his mother Siu Ying awas lso interests in his training: she often took him to the Mok Gwai Lam's school (last Grand Master Wong Fei Hung's wife), from which he took lessons. This relationship continued for a long time, untill Chi Ling was nearly considered to be a son for Mok Gwai Lam. For this reason, every time one of her students opened a school, he was here with his Lion Dance. At the end, Chiu Chi Ling, for his presence and talent, was considered as Wong Fei Hung heir for dancing. In fact he was called "the king of lion dance".

When he was 15 years old, he started working in his father's clinic as an assistant, where he practiced the ancient and traditional chinese medicine. In the evening he taught in his father's school novice course.
