Grandmaster Chiu Kow History

At a young age, Chiu Kau followed his sifu, Wong Sai Wing, himself a favored pupil of Wong Fei Hung, throughout Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Wong Sai Wing passed down his knowledge of Chinese Medicine and Wong Fei Hung's kung fu to Chiu Kau, and henceforth they travelled widely, teaching kung fu and earning their keep by practicing medicine.
Their students spread through Southeast Asia and their righteousness and spirit of aiding the poor were known far and wide. Their reputation grew along with the number of people they helped, and they also aided those too poor to pay for medicine for free, earning them the utmost respect from the local populace.
Following the establishment of the Republic of China (zhong hua wen guo), the founding father of modern China, Dr. Sun Yat-sen, appealed to chinese abroad to return to rebuild their homeland. Having been abroad much of his life, Chiu Kau bore witness to the discrimination and hardship his countrymen suffered abroad. This made Chiu Kau feverently patriotic and so he answered his country's call and returned to China. Soon he married Siu Ying, who also came from a well-known and respected family of martial artists and chinese acupuncturists. Upon their union, they exchanged their knowledge of kung fu with each other.
Later in Hong Kong, they found out that Lam Sai Wing was also Wong Fei Hung's pupil, meaning their kung fu was of the same path. Chiu Kau continued to study Kung Fu at Lam Sai Wing's martial arts school, earning Lam Sai Wing's recognition.
Later Chiu Kau helped Lam Sai Wing teach pupils at his school, and in gratitude, Lam Sai Wing presented Chiu Kau with the just-published, first edition of "Taming Tiger set, Iron Thread set and Tiger Crane set" in the 12th year of the Chinese Republic (1923) as a memoir. Lam Sai Wing's Iron Thread set and Inner Kung fu was completely passed down to the Chiu couple and the Chius also participated in Lam Sai Wing's public performances. They earned great praise from the public and was known throughout the martial arts world as "the Best Couple".
