Sifu Klaas Padberg Evenboer

Klaas Padberg Evenboer, born on the 11th of November 1953, educationalist and government approved and certified teacher of Chinese martial arts.
Klaas Padberg Evenboer was introduced to Macan Kuntao, a Chinese-Indonesian hybrid Shaolin Kung Fu system, also known as Kempo, in the early seventies. Before that time he had some experience in western boxing and wrestling. In 1975 Klaas started Pack Mee Pai, White Eyebrow Sect, a Southern Kung Fu system under Sifu Kong Mien Ho, later under Sifu Jie Kon Sieuw, whom he helped starting up some schools. Pack Mee Pai was the first authentic Shaolin Kung Fu system to be introduced in the Netherlands.
December 1980 he started his first lessons in Hung Ga in Hong Kong, later under the guidance of Sifu Lai Ng Sam (1926 - 1995) (here in the picture), who was a student of Sigung Chiu Kau. Lai Ng Sam was teaching openly in Victoria Park and to members of the Japanese Consulate. He was a master of Hung Ga and other Southern Shaolin systems as well as an accomplished herbalist. Klaas met Lai Ng Sam first in the summer of 1980 as well as Chiu Kau, his wife Siu Ying, and their son Chiu Chi Ling. He revisited Hong Kong another four times, also learning under the guidance of Sifu Lai Ng Sam as well as his long time student Jeff Hasbrouck. During these trips he visited Macau, Taiwan and the Shaolin Tempel (1983).

His last major tournament was the '7th European Wushu Championships 1998' organised by the European Wushu Federation (EWF) in Athens, Greece on 27-29 November. There Marit van Beek, a longtime female student of him, won a silver medal in the discipline Nanquan (South Fist). The team from the Netherlands finished second, just after the team from Ukrain.

He used to be secretary of the SKO (1975 - 1981) and at present is president of the Netherlands Wushu Federation (NWF) since 1994. The NWF is recognised by the National Olympic Committee, the EWF and the IWUF.
